A Community Event for All

How it Started

Music in Mears was founded in 2004 by Brian Horst (Details Style Lab) and Kyle Johnson (Top Tier Athletes). The series that started with just 4 shows in September grew to 12 weeks in 2006 and continues to add to the excitement of living, working or playing in Downtown St. Paul! Brian Horst has continued to be the driving force behind the series. In 2009, Brian Horst brought in Clint Roberts (One Simple Plan) and his knowledge of the local music scene and marketing expertise and Paul Kaelble (Subway/Zantigo) has been blending the sweet sounds for the series since 2006. Music in Mears has truly blossomed and continues to see bigger crowds and receive numerous accolades. In 2017 Brian formed B Horst Productions to help facilitate the expanded summer schedule in 2017 and for 2018, BHP brought in the operations and management direction of OSP Events/Clint Roberts and a great new non-profit partnership with St Paul Beyond The Yellow Ribbon.  We are bringing our focus back to where it all began to celebrate the 15th season of Music in Mears!  Thanks to everyone that makes this series a success!

Show Your Support

While we love bringing these free shows to the lowertown community, we spend a great deal of time and energy into gathering sponsors and writing grants to cover the band and operating budget. We will soon be launching a on-line fundraising campaign and ask that you to consider making a tax deductible contribution. Every dollar makes a big impact on the grassroots series and we appreciate the support!
